Where Claude peak hours stand
Everything this page shows comes from Anthropic’s own posts and pages, with their dates:
- March 26, 2026: Anthropic announced that the 5-hour session limits of Free, Pro and Max subscriptions move faster during weekday peak hours, 05:00–11:00 Pacific Time. Weekly limits were unchanged; about 7 % of users would hit session limits they would not have hit before, particularly on Pro.
- May 6, 2026: the peak-hours reduction was removed for Claude Code on Pro and Max, and Claude Code’s five-hour limits doubled for Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise.
- September 22, 2026: with Claude Opus 5.5, Anthropic raised the five-hour limits of Pro, Max and Team. The announcement doesn’t mention peak hours.
- September 24, 2026: the help center, plan and pricing pages don’t mention peak hours. No end has been announced for chats, and no current schedule is published.
- At any hour: no surge pricing. Subscriptions keep their price and usage credits are billed at standard API rates, whatever the time.
What peak hours change, and what they don’t
Only the 5-hour session limit of Free, Pro and Max was concerned: during the window, the same messages use more of it. Your weekly limit doesn’t change, nothing costs more, and since May 6, 2026 Claude Code on Pro and Max is out of it.
Anthropic suggested moving token-heavy background jobs off-peak. If the window still applies to your chats, a long session started outside it leaves more of your 5-hour limit for the work itself. In much of Asia and Oceania, the whole window falls in the evening or at night.
The same window around the world
While the US is on daylight time, 05:00–11:00 in Los Angeles is 08:00–14:00 in New York, 13:00–19:00 in London, 14:00–20:00 in Paris or Berlin, 17:30–23:30 in India and 21:00–03:00 the next day in Tokyo. In the US winter it starts an hour later in zones without daylight saving (18:30 in India, 22:00 in Tokyo). The weekend is the Pacific one: late on a Friday in California is already Saturday in Asia, and still inside the window.
Daylight saving moves it too. In 2026 the US changes its clocks on March 8 and November 1, the UK and the EU on March 29 and October 25: between those dates the window starts an hour earlier on European clocks. The converter uses your device’s time-zone rules, so those weeks come out right.
What this tool cannot know
Whether Anthropic applies a peak-hours adjustment at a given moment can’t be seen from outside: no page shows it, and no one outside Anthropic can measure it. This converter shows the last published window on your clock; it doesn’t read your account. Your session bar in Settings › Usage, or the UsageMeter extension, shows how fast your limit is really going down.
Questions
Are Claude peak hours still in effect?
For Claude Code on Pro and Max, no: the reduction was removed on May 6, 2026. For chats on Free, Pro and Max, no end has been announced, but no current schedule is published either (checked on September 24, 2026). Treat weekdays 05:00–11:00 Pacific Time as the last published window, not a guarantee.
Do peak hours affect Claude Code?
Not on Pro and Max since May 6, 2026: Anthropic removed the peak-hours reduction for Claude Code on those plans, and doubled Claude Code’s five-hour limits the same day.
Do peak hours change the weekly limit?
No. Anthropic said from the start that weekly limits were unchanged: only the 5-hour session limit moves faster during the window.
Does Claude cost more at peak times?
No. There is no surge pricing: subscriptions keep their price, and usage credits are billed at standard API rates at any hour.

Weekdays from 05:00 to 11:00 in Los Angeles: 08:00–14:00 in New York, and 13:00–19:00 in London and 14:00–20:00 in Paris for most of the year. The converter above gives your own zone, with daylight saving.
