One email each time Anthropic changes the usage limits, taken from our dated timeline. Nothing else, and no account needed.
How it is measured
We count the signed-in UsageMeter users who hit a Claude limit (the 5-hour session, a weekly limit or a model’s limit) in each rolling 24 hours, and divide by the average number of browsers syncing during those hours, so that a wave of new accounts does not read as more blocks. That rate is compared with the same weekday over the last four weeks or, while there is too little history, with the last two weeks. A block we can only place somewhere in a gap (browser closed, computer asleep) is left out.
The verdict only changes with a rate of at least 1.5 times the usual one, or at most 0.6 times, and a gap chance does not explain.
What it cannot know
It only sees signed-in UsageMeter users, who are not all Claude users and probably use it more than most.
A block is not proof that a limit changed: a busy day, a new model everyone tries at once or an incident can raise the count just as well. Anthropic does not publish its limits as absolute figures, so nothing here measures a limit directly: this page counts blocks.
Questions
Did Claude reduce its limits?
Not that this page can prove. It shows whether more UsageMeter users than usual are being blocked, which a lower limit would cause, and so would a busy day or an incident. When Anthropic announces a change, it goes in our dated timeline, linked above. A change it does not announce cannot be confirmed from outside, by this page or any other tool.
Is it just me, or did my limit get smaller?
If the verdict says usual, nothing points to a change for everyone, so look at your own use first: long conversations, large files and heavier models use a limit faster. If it says more blocks than usual, you are not alone, whatever the cause.
What does 100 mean on the chart?
100 is the usual rate of blocks per active user: the median of the same weekday over the last four weeks. 150 is one and a half times that rate, 50 is half of it.
How many users does this cover?
We do not publish counts. The page only gives a verdict once the sample is large enough for the comparison to mean something; until then it says there is not enough data.
Can someone see that I was blocked?
No. Blocks are counted together, with no name or account shown. Your own history stays in your account, and the privacy policy describes what is kept.
