A new popup that counts in tokens. Every Claude limit gets its own gauge: the 5-hour session, the weekly limit shared by all models and products, and any separate weekly limit a model or product has. Each one tells you whether you are on track or roughly when you would hit it at your current pace. The old "messages left" estimate is gone.

Usage credits at a glance: if you pay for usage past your plan limit, the popup shows this month's spend against your monthly cap, what you can still spend and whether auto-reload is on.

Interactive charts: your usage over the current window with a projection to its reset, over the last 24 hours or over the last 7 days. The arrow keys move along the curve, any chart can switch to a table, and the CSV export keeps every point.

A "Closest limit" option for the toolbar badge: the icon shows whichever limit is nearest to blocking you.

A new setup after install, in five short steps: your live usage straight away, then your look, what the extension does, an optional account and Pro.

Upgrade to Pro in one click from claude.ai. When the extension is signed in, Pro switches on by itself right after payment and an open popup updates on the spot.

UsageMeter now starts in your browser's language, and a language picked in Settings applies instantly.

Restore from account now tells you what happened: settings restored, nothing new to bring back, or server unreachable.

The welcome offer is now translated into all 34 languages; 32 of them used to show it in English.

Signing in on a second browser no longer erases your saved Claude accounts. Accounts are now merged between browsers: each browser keeps its own session keys and what it measured, and the latest rename of an account wins everywhere.

A browser that signs in to your account for the first time now gets the settings of your other browsers straight away.

Turning keyboard shortcuts off, or back on, now takes effect immediately, without reloading claude.ai.

The setup no longer promises a free first month once the welcome offer has ended: it shows the 7-day free trial every new subscriber gets.

Promotions no longer stack: the Discord invitation and the Claude Code companion card never show together in the same popup session.

The popup now shows tokens right under "Messages left", every time: roughly how many tokens of your 5-hour window you have used, out of how many it holds. It no longer waits for a solid estimate — a rough figure appears from your first measured message, or right away when you are signed in — and hovering it tells you where the number comes from.

The estimated token limit for your Claude plan, pooled from other UsageMeter accounts on the same plan, now appears as soon as one of them has measured it. It used to take five accounts, which left most plans without any figure at all.

The Claude Design usage indicator is gone. Claude Design no longer has a limit of its own, so its setting under "On claude.ai" and the usage chip on the Design page have been removed.

The extension is now listed as "Claude Usage Meter" — in two words — in the Chrome Web Store and on Firefox Add-ons, so it comes up when you search for "usage meter".

The welcome offer now shows its real price. The setup page and the popup say what the WELCOME code actually does — your first month of Pro is free, then the regular price — instead of a confusing discount line, with a 24-hour countdown for new installs. "See Pro" opens the pricing page with the code already applied.

Prices in your own currency: US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars, pounds, Swiss francs, yen, won, rupees, reais, pesos, złoty, kroner, koruna, Singapore and Hong Kong dollars. Detected from your time zone, switchable on the pricing page, and the checkout charges exactly the amount you saw.

The extension is now listed as "Claude UsageMeter" in the Chrome Web Store and on Firefox Add-ons, so it comes up when you search for Claude.

Exporting a conversation to PDF no longer pulls in an 800 KB library on the first click — the extension now builds the file itself. Same page layout, a much faster first export, and a lighter extension for everyone.

Characters a PDF cannot draw — Chinese, Japanese, emoji — used to come out as unrelated Latin letters. They now appear as a question mark, and arrows or comparison signs are written out (-> and <= / >=) instead of vanishing.

Themes, backgrounds and fonts have moved to the bottom of Settings. In 1.4.11 they sat right under Language, and three screens of theme cards buried the meters, the on-page toggles and the tools. Everything you actually open Settings for is back within reach, with the whole Style section still one scroll away — no sub-menu.

Themes, backgrounds and fonts are directly in Settings, right under Language. They used to hide behind Settings → Appearance → Themes ›, one screen too deep for most people to ever find.

The Chat width option (Default / Wide / Maximum) is gone, from the settings and from the setup tutorial. Claude's redesign lays the conversation out itself; a stored Wide or Maximum is no longer applied.

"Messages left" finally shows a number. It could sit on "— calibrating" for weeks: the estimate was worked out once when the popup opened, before your usage had finished loading, and was never worked out again. On top of that, accounts whose usage page updates slowly recorded no measurements at all, and very small per-message costs were rounded down to zero. All three are fixed, the row now shows how far calibration has got ("2/5"), and it updates live as you send messages.

You can import an account key without being signed in to Claude. If you were signed out, the extension showed a connection error with no way past it — the tabs were hidden, so Accounts was unreachable. The tabs stay available now, the error card links straight to the key import, and importing a key while no account is connected signs you into that account right away.

Keys exported by older versions can be imported again. Anything exported before the UsageMeter rename was rejected as "invalid key format".

The "?" bubble in the popup header is now a "Sign in / Sign up" button, so it is clear what it opens.

Token estimates and the conversation counter next to the composer are on for everyone and no longer have switches — they are part of the extension now. Same for cloud sync, which also carries more of your setup: your on-page preferences, provider choices, saved prompts and your measured calibration now follow you to another browser. Feature toggles were being sent to the server and quietly discarded, so they never followed you anywhere.

The setup tutorial ends with a plan step: what the free version does, and Pro with 30% off the first month using the code WELCOME.

Settings → Delete my data, and a privacy page on your account where you can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, or for its deletion. Each request is confirmed by a member of the team before anything is exported or erased — a safeguard against a stolen session wiping an account — and you are emailed at each step.

The privacy policy has been rewritten from scratch and now lists every piece of data, why it is collected and how long it is kept. The extension no longer fingerprints your browser: the device identifier used to be derived from a canvas drawing and your graphics card, and is now simply a random number.

Translations completed in all 34 languages — roughly 280 texts that were still showing in English, including the whole colour editor and theme manager.

The usage percentage stays in one place. Claude's redesigned composer fades its "Claude can make mistakes" notice and the model name in and out of the same spot, and the usage chip was riding along with them — sitting on the far left in some conversations, sliding sideways as the two swapped, and disappearing altogether in others. The chip, the conversation counter and the export buttons are now pinned to the right-hand end of the bar under the composer, in the same place in every chat.

Only one Accounts button in the sidebar. Switching between Claude Code and a conversation added a second, identical button next to the first — Claude's new interface uses a single shared sidebar for both, and each one was being filled in separately.

Claude's own disclaimer under the composer is left alone. The usage chips now sit next to it instead of taking its place, so nothing of Claude's interface is hidden to make room for them.

The one-off "UsageMeter Link" announcement no longer opens over the extension popup. The companion app is still one click away from the Usage tab.

Themes paint claude.ai again. Claude's redesign moved every colour onto a new token set and started loading its own stylesheet later in the page than ours, so all 56 themes silently stopped applying — the page just stayed grey whatever you picked. Themes, custom colours and the gradient presets all work on the new interface.

The toolbar under the composer no longer climbs on top of the input box. Claude's new disclaimer bar is built with a negative offset that the toolbar was cancelling out, which buried the usage chips behind the composer, pushed the composer past the bottom of the window and left the conversation unable to scroll to its last messages.

Settings stop reverting on their own. A version counter that never advanced let the server hand back old values over settings you had just changed — most visible right after a fresh install, where the first things you configured came back wrong.

"Chat bar: ring + tools" showed as OFF in Settings while the feature was actually ON, so switching it on looked like a setting that refused to save. The switch now reflects the real state.

"Usage pace" now actually turns the coloured trend arrows on and off — the switch was saved but nothing ever read it.

Focus mode, chat width, custom font and size, background image and blurred responses were all keyed to page structure Claude no longer uses. Every one of them works again, and the old hooks are kept so the desktop app keeps working too.

Claude Code: the Accounts button is back in the sidebar, and a tab opened on /code no longer stays stuck in limited mode after you navigate to a conversation — export, conversation metrics and live usage tracking were all missing for the rest of that tab's life.

Feature toggles (usage indicator, export buttons, favicon ring, conversation metrics…) now follow you across devices through cloud sync. They were local-only, so they had to be re-set on every browser and were lost on reinstall.

Two background loops that retried every half-second forever on pages where their target no longer exists are now bounded — they were running for the whole life of every /code tab.

Startup sync no longer fires its download and upload at the same time, where either could overwrite the other's work depending on which finished first.

The "Copy button" switch in Settings and the setup wizard. The feature it controlled was taken out of the extension back in v1.2.11; the switch stayed behind and did nothing ever since.

Firefox: the popup and the setup screens no longer open blank. The Firefox package shipped the app's raw source files instead of the built app, so nothing on those screens could start — every window came up empty. Firefox now gets exactly the same build as Chrome.

Firefox: usage tracking, notifications and cloud sync work again. The background service stopped a few lines into startup, which froze usage counts and left settings unsynced between devices.

UsageMeter has a new logo — the green usage ring on a dark tile. The extension icon in your toolbar, the popup header and the setup screens all wear it now, matching the website and the desktop companion app.

The extension is now called “UsageMeter — AI Usage Tracker for Claude”, focused on what it tracks out of the box. Nothing changes in the product itself.

Per-model limits in the popup. Claude tracks a separate weekly limit for Opus, Sonnet and Fable, and those percentages are now shown one per model, straight from Claude. A single blended ceiling was misleading: a million Opus tokens and a million Haiku tokens do not consume the same share of a limit, so one number could never be right for both.

Each model row now shows its own weekly percentage instead of a share of the window, and the overall ceiling is labelled as what it is — valid for the mix of models you are currently using.

The Claude Code tab now opens instantly. Its data starts loading the moment you open the popup instead of when you click the tab, so there is nothing to wait for.

Your 5-hour window now shows tokens against the ceiling for your plan — every browser and every machine running Claude Code on your account, in one figure. It only appears when both numbers are real: a total without a measured ceiling would say nothing.

Per-model limits on the dashboard. Claude publishes a separate limit for Opus, Sonnet and Fable, and those percentages are now shown as-is. They are Anthropic's own measurements, not our estimates — a single ceiling for all models was misleading, because a million Opus tokens and a million Haiku tokens do not consume the same share of a limit.

The dashboard used to refresh everything once a minute, which could exhaust the request budget and make the extension and the desktop app fail with “rate limited”. Only the live window refreshes that often now; the rest updates every five minutes.

A limit percentage whose cycle had already reset was still displayed as current, and the ceiling calculated from it grew without bound. Expired readings are now discarded, and a percentage that has not refreshed recently is labelled instead of being presented as live.

Dashboard sync rebuilt from scratch — it had been silently storing nothing. The server identified you through a device-to-account link that only exists when a sign-in passes the extension's device id, which the main sign-in path (signing in on usagemeter.app and letting the site hand the session to the extension) cannot do — so the lookup found no account and every point was dropped. On top of that, points were kept for paid plans only. The extension now authenticates with its own token and sends the CURRENT state of each Claude account instead of replaying local history through a cursor, and the server stores it for every plan (the dashboard still gates what free accounts can view). Re-sending the same minute is harmless, so a failed request simply retries on the next cycle
